We’ve updated our Sports Lighting Design Guide with a variety of typical designs covering sports fields that are popular in the United States.
You’ll get illumination statistics and a list recommended lighting fixtures based on the number of lighting poles, the size of the athletic field and sport being played. Generally speaking, the smaller the ball and the faster in travels, the more light you’ll need.
You’ll get a variety of layouts for:
- Baseball Fields Lighting
- Softball Fields Lighting
- Soccer Fields Lighting
- Football Field Lighting
- Tennis Court Lighting
These sports lighting design guides can usually be slightly modified to fit a change in field size. Keep in mind, our sports lighting designs are not meant to substitute for an independent engineering analysis of your specific athletic field, but they’re a good starting point for assessing basic layout, lighting fixture, pole lighting and crossarm requirements and then costs. Our sports lighting design guides are available as PDF downloads and editable Visual [VSL] files.
We also have a team of sports lighting specialists on staff if you need help understanding or modifying a sports lighting design, so please contact us if you need help.
If you’re lighting an NCAA game for local or national broadcast, the NCAA has their own sports lighting best practices for intercollegiate play, which may also be useful.
